An Talla Solais

Am Bhata The Sistership set out to illustrate aspects of living in the Scottish Highlands for women. Inspired, nurtured and challenged by their environment (both natural and social), the group feel themselves to be on a journey that will not be over until all women have equality. This journey is driven by a will to make a better world for all children, everywhere.

The participants contributed their ideas, time, energy, materials, stories, empathy, multi-tasking skills and sistership. They also contribute massively to the life of the Highlands and beyond, and artist, Lizzie McDougall, felt very grateful and honoured to have worked with them.

An Talla Solais is Ullapool's visual arts centre that has two galleries that host a range of contemporary artwork throughout the year.

The main gallery is home to an annual programme of exhibitions featuring a wide variety of exciting and thought-provoking contemporary artworks including painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, drawing and performance.

The smaller gallery - The Room - shows a selection of paintings and sculpture that is changed on a regular basis to complement our main exhibition programme and to offer our visitors the opportunity to view and purchase work from some of Scotland's leading contemporary artists.
