Analogue computer used to calculate the most appropiate cargo-allocation on the ship. On a cross-sectional drawing every compartment is fitted with a potentiometer to set the cargo weight. Pointers indicate “trim”, “draft”, deadweight” and “shear forces”.
Originating from the M/S Federal Schelde, built in Ulsan, Korea in 1977. The ship navigated for FEDNAV Ltd. (Québec, Antwerp office) under the Liberian flag, along with three sister ships. (21,965 ton GRT).
Rectangular metal case with handles left and right on the front, aside two cross-sectional drawings of the ship, potentiometers, knobs and pointers. Three PCBs can be found on the side. Power cable and bulk of 5 separate knobs included.
