Ancient Chapel and Bridge, Spon Street, Coventry

This watercolour by Sydney John Bunney shows the chapel and bridge
on Spon Street, Coventry around 1917. The chapel’s red-brick roof glistens in
the sunlight. Bunney painted many of Coventry’s churches and other religious
buildings. He often emphasised the yellows and greens of the plant growth which
cloaked many of the buildings.
