This watercolour is part of an album of views of Coventry made by William Brooke between 1819 and 1820. It shows a view of the arch leading to the 14th century St Mary’s Guildhall. The Guildhall stands on Bayley Lane next to the ruins of Coventry Cathedral which was  destroyed in the Blitz of November 1940.
