Andre Agassi ended 1999 at No. 1 for the first time in his 14-year career. With this victory at the French Open men's singles final, Agassi became the second man in the Open Era to complete a career Grand Slam, preceded only by Rod Laver. He also became the only men's singles player to achieve a career Super Slam, previously winning the Olympic gold and year-end championships.
