Portrait of Angelica Catalani (1780-1849). Represented in profile, half body in empire costume, a mantle over the shoulder and a tiara as an ornament.

The oval medallion surrounding the portrait is surmounted by a lace and laurel leaves and features on the base a vegetal decoration, a lyre and a wind instrument. In the base the inscription: "ANGELICA CATALANI".

Angelica Catalani was an opera singer. Her power of voice and flexibility made her one of the greatest Italian sopranos. She also worked as a singing teacher in Florence. Her students included Laure Cinti-Damoreau and Fanny Corri-Paltoni.
