A rank belt is a decorative belt worn over official attire, and its materials differed according to the wearer’s rank. In the Goryeo period, it was adorned with jade, gold, horn, or leather, while in the Joseon Dynasty, first-rank officials wore a horn belt, second and third ranks wore a gold belt adorned with red dots, and junior third to ninth ranks wore a black belt. The length of the belt was made to be longer than the chest, and inserted into the small loops under the armpit of the uniform to hang from the chest.
