[2] The Frick Art Reference Library in New York purchased photographs of NGA 1963.10.134 and .135 from Ferargil Galleries in New York in 1944. The notes that accompanied the photographs had been sent to Ferargil in December 1930 by Ehrich Galleries, when the latter offered the pair of portraits for sale to Ferargil. (Letter of 24 January 1956 from Mrs. Henry W. Howell, Jr., to Mrs. William Sawitzky, sent to John Walker and in NGA curatorial files)
