Jael says: "Tom Croft's wonderful initiative to document this strange time of the Coronavirus and the magnificent work carried out by NHS staff is a wonderful project to be involved with. My portrait of Anna is my second NHS portrait, and I decided to do it because she was so lovely and because she said she wanted to give it to her grandmother as she hadn't been able to see her for the whole of lockdown. As she lives alone with no social contact, she thought she would like to have a portrait of her granddaughter for company. It was an absolute privilege to paint Anna."
Anna says: "Thank you so much to Tom Croft and all the talented artists for making this wonderful idea come to life. Special thank you to Jael O’Connor for painting this portrait, based on a photo taken at 4am on a night shift. It will be treasured by my grandmother, who is 86 and spent the 4 months of lockdown without company. Thank you for your generosity and for spreading joy through the NHS portraits initiative."
