INDUCTED 1985

Anne Steinbeck was the first Colorado woman to serve as president of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.

Professional Women’s Club dates back to 1919 and numbers more than 3,700 local chapters. After joining BPW in Gunnison in 1963, Steinbeck emerged as an activist and leader working for equality of opportunity for professional women. Steinbeck was born in 1929, the granddaughter of a Colorado homesteader. During her lifetime, she has combined teaching, accounting, journalism, local elected office, and social work along with family responsibility. Four governors have appointed her to serve on state commissions. In this capacity, she has testified before the Colorado Legislature and the United States Congress.
