One of ten paintings donated to the Accademia di San Luca in 1934, following the death of the baron Michele Lazzaroni. In 1966, Gigetta Dalli Regoli attributed this work to Biagio d’Antonio Tucci. In the Florence-trained painter’s iconographical choices references can be seen to the Murate Annunciation by Filippo Lippi
