The sculpture, with obvious remains of red slip, represents a kneeling man resting his hands on his legs, while raising his head to look directly upwards in what may be a posture of prayer. The features of the face are not very marked, and the grimace made by his mouth stands out. However, his large ears, very separated from the head, attract the attention. He is adorned with bracelets on the wrist. Owing to its typology, the sculpture is related to the human representations in various postures, frequntly linked to prayer, which are so habitual in the cultures of Mali9
