Appledore Hoard

This hoard of around 500 silver pennies, most minted in the name of Edward the Confessor, was probably buried in about 1051–52, at the time Earl Godwin and his family went into exile. The hoard was found by three metal-detectorists in 1997, and reported Treasure.
