Gilded terracotta applique depicting a female figure wearing a chiton and a himation, seated on a rock; in her left hand she probably holds a torch, in her right hand she strokes a wild beast. Similar appliques, arranged in friezes incorporating a range of subjects, were used for the decoration of wooden sarcophagi. The figure was part of a frieze with a Dionysian theme.
