Applying dye, Kyo Yūzen

After the resist dries, dyes in the desired colors are applied to the design inside the lines. Fine points of color distribution, gradation, and shading are left to the artist’s intuition. The design is dyed first and then covered with paste resist as protection (fusenori, cover sizing) before the background is dyed.
