Appointment of the administrator and notary of the galley constructing works at the Shipyards of Barcelona, Romeu Desplà, issued by Bonanat Descoll, Royal Curator at the Drassanes de Barcelona: Bononat Descoll, curator of the Dreçanes of his lord the King and of the Sea. To the Honourable Romeu Despla, citizen of Barchinona. Greetings. I duly inform you, commanded by our Lord the King, who decrees that you should be appointed administrator and notary for the works on the galleys and for other tasks I shall entrust to you within and without la Draçana de Barchinona for our Lord the King, by virtue of my post. Thus I shall give you orders to purchase wood, nails, oakum, arms, spars, stanchions and any other supplies necessary for said galleys, and to pay the prices for these objects. And also to pay the ship’s carpenters, oarsmiths, caulkers, woodworkers and all the other persons labouring and working on said galleys. You are hereby empowered, by decree of our Lord the King, to direct and order all the ship’s carpenters, woodworkers, caulkers and oarsmiths working in said Draçana, and all others subject to my office, and who will obey you and follow your orders with regard to said works. I hereby order that the salary you receive for carrying out said administrative tasks shall be accounted for in due legality in accordance with the orders of my office. Signed in Barchinona on the XVth day of March in the year of our Lord MCCCLVII. Bonanat Descoll was the vice-admiral and, in the time of King Pere III, he was in charge of all the shipyards in the Crown of Aragon.
