A driving game released by Sega in 1986, OutRun became one of the most successful arcade games of its time. The sit-down edition of the game became especially known for its innovative technology, which included a moving cabitnet and the ability to choose between various soundtracks during the game. Due to its popularity, the game has been ported to many home consoles, including Sega's Master System and Genesis, the Commodore 64, NEC's PC Engine, and Sony's PlayStation 2. OutRun received the title of 1987's Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards.
