Archaeological human clay figurine fragment excavated in the 1930s from the South African Iron Age archaeological site of K2, block 4, section 4, dating approximately AD 1030 - AD 1220. The clay figurine appears to presents a side profile with a large nose, however, the decoration apparent on the surface indicates it is more likely an incomplete or fragmented human figurine. The figurine is cylindrical with a triangular protuberance and is characterised by ornate, dotted linear decoration; five lines are drawn in a vertical direction, with the longer line between two sets of shorter line punctuations. Two dotted, horizontal lines are also evident situated below the right set of vertical lines. In addition two punctuated holes are evident. This figurine (N298) forms part of the Mapungubwe National Heritage Collection- specifically declared as a heritage object of South Africa.
