Archaeology Outside of the Museum Core

University of Virginia Anthropology PhD candidate Kyle Edwards conducted excavations along a modern road, behind the service outbuildings, to search for additional evidence of how the property was used during Monroe's time. His research has determined that the road that now cuts through this part of the property is modern and did not exist during the time when the Monroe family occupied the site.
