This piece, originating from Saint Mary Magdalene of Prozony Abbey, in Hungary, constitutes the oldest reliquary of the Church of São Roque, included in the donation of John of Borgia.
Its cylindrical display of medieval features stands upon an hexagonal foot decorated with birds/dragons on its top. Inside the glass case, reinforced by three narrow bands of silver, stands the relic of Saint Donatus Martyr.

  • Biography of the saint:: St. Donatus, Martyr, Bishop of Arrezo in Italy, at the time of the Diocletian emperor, was arrested, incarcerated and decapitated in the year 361, when the emperor Julian ruled. Some of his relics reached Germany.
