Max Wislicenus was the greatest artist in Wrocław, who created in the spirit of Art Nouveau. He completed his studies in Düsseldorf and Munich, and exhibited his works together with the "Secession" association. Apart from painting, he dealt with weaving and applied arts. In the years 1916-1918 he was the director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where he introduced a number of reforms in theteaching program. The presented painting was created after Wislicenus retired and moved to Dresden. At that time, a series of paintings on stage dance was created. The presented work is part of a series of 5 paintings with this title.
