Photographer Yaki Assayag was born into a Jewish family in Jerusalem, Israel in 1970. He is predominantly a portraitist, considering portraits ‘the most interesting side of photography’ , in which he attempts to capture the interaction between the photographer and subject rather than photographing a predetermined composition. Ariela is part of a series he initiated after moving to Brooklyn and reflects something of his and feelings about this new location and its inhabitants.
