Written by the Persian astronomer, Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi in about 960, this astronomical treatise is based ultimately on an ancient Greek source, Ptolemy’s Almagest. It includes numerous drawings of the signs of the zodiac and other constellations with the star points indicated in gold. Many figures appear as mirror-image pairs.
