Arion is seated on a dolphin, playing his lyre. Behind him, a boat sails away.

Additional information:
The story tells how the poet Arion was on board a ship when the crew threatened to rob and murder him. He sprang into the sea and was saved by a dolphin that had heard him playing his lyre. The relief alludes to the role of the Insurance Chamber (Assurantiekamer) and the insuring of merchandise.
