Armadillo

The nine-banded armadillo is significant to Oklahoma because it is the only armadillo found in the United States. Even though the name implies these armored mammals only have nine bands, nine-banded armadillos can have anywhere from seven to eleven bands. One fact that most people don’t know is that only two species of armadillo can roll into a ball and unfortunately, the nine-banded armadillo is not one of them.
