Wardrobe divided into an upper and lower section, divided by a central drawer with lock. The front is topped with a triangular pediment, the top of which is planed down into a semi-sphere. This is a classic Basque item of furniture from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. On the doors there are square decorations carved in eight-leaved flowers with beading on the drawer.
Although much less frequent than the kutxas (chests), there are some fine specimens of cabinets and dressers in Basque museums built between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. They have a distinctive style, despite clear influences in decoration and design from other European regions.
This piece comes from Aizarna (Gipuzkoa) and belongs to the San Telmo Museum's collection.
