Arnold Schönberg spent the summer of 1930 in Lugano in the Italian part of Switzerland. “If only I can stay away from Berlin long enough! […] Here we had bad weather, storms and steady rain for several days. But now it’s fine again.– Unfortunately I don’t have a chance to play tennis because there are only a few players and none of them plays badly enough for me.” (Arnold Schönberg to Alban Berg, 25 July 1930)
