“Schoenberg’s retirement from UCLA on October 31, 1944 was not the cessation of his activity as a teacher. Most of his pupils, he taught in his home in Brentwood Park until his death in 1951. On the wall Schoenberg had pinned huge sheets of wrapping paper on which he wrote with crayons, drawing the staves with a staffliner fitted with crayon.
