In December 1915, Arnold Schönberg did a year’s voluntary service as a titular private first class in the k. & k. Hoch- und Deutschmeister Regiment No. 4. He completed the reserve officers school in Bruck an der Leitha from March to May 1916, where he was photographed with his comrades. August Töke ran a studio in Bruck an der Leitha with a branch by the k. & k. Military Camp vis-à-vis the k. & k. post office – the proximity to the military evidently provided a good source of income.
