Arnolfo shows the plan to enlarge Florence

“In this painting we find represented the expansion of Florence’s city walls, as we see Florentines in good and peaceful spirit and a city that has grown…we are in the year circa 1284”. Arnolfo di Cambio shows the priors the project of enlargement that will make Florence one of the most fortified city in Italy (the works will continue until nearly 50 years later, in 1333).
