In 1994, the 1972 Tube stock that operated on the Bakerloo line was refurbished. This is a sample of the moquette pattern used. It has repeating rows of blue and red crescent shapes combined with small yellow crescents divided by white and blue stripes. London Transport commissioned designers Jones Garrard and Tilney, Lumsden and Shane to create a new interior scheme that included grab-poles, armrests and the new moquette. Its name, Art Deco, comes from the use of crescent shapes in the pattern, a favourite motif of that style. The moquette was made by British Furtex Fabrics Limited in collaboration with the Underground Research Laboratories.
