Arthur Strang Tipton grew up in Russell, Kansas. During World War I he enlisted and was placed in the 16th Balloon Company. While serving in France, Tipton perished from influenza on February 17, 1919. Family provided his photograph to the Kansas State Historical Society in 1919 as part of a project to preserve the records of veterans.
Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see more about Tipton please visit: https://www.kansasmemory.org/item/225272
