Artist impression of water raising machines designed by Al-Jazari

Al-Jazari designed and described numerous other machines including different water-raising machines like the one shown in this 13th-century manuscript from his famous book 'The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices' which includes detailed description of 50 devices grouped under six categories.
