Artwork inspired by Mazzan Al Farsi's story

Inspired by the life lesson of Mazzan Al Farsi from Oman, "Downfalls and hard times will always teach you about the ones who really care - but keep in mind that everyone shows it in different ways."

The artist Janhavi Sharma shares about the work, "My heart was so full when I read about her journey through her illness, the judgements and hardships she’s had to endure. I wanted to focus though on where she is now, her gratitude and acknowledgement of the hands that helped her, her unique story and growth. How she sees herself is the story that attracted me, and that’s what I tried to recreate. I think all women have in some quantity or the other, are made to grapple with this constantly shifting shapes of people’s perception, for whatever they might do, for who they are. And nothing is more empowering than soaring beyond, and being authentic to self. Just like Mazzan did."

Janhavi is an independent visual artist with a background in Journalism, and Modern/Contemporary Indian Art and curatorial Studies. Her primary research interests lie in Ecofeminism, Migration and Memory and her preferred choice of media is photo/video and drawing, though likes to experiment with her method and material. She’s currently pursuing her MFA Fine Art in Nottingham Trent University.

World Wisdom Map is a unique project that documents the life lesson and story of people from each of the 195 countries in the world. The collation and exhibition of human wisdom is presented on a digital, artistic and interactive world map. The data has also been designed into education and art resources. This consciousness project combines visual, and wisdom anthropology that exists in the world and further sparks awareness about the diversity of lifestyles, as well as the coping mechanism that people employ to create a meaningful life. Using the tool of technology, it is easier to connect and exchange information to ignite hope and global participation in an unbiased and creative way.
