An illustration in watercolour or gouache, of assorted poppies for 'Understanding Gardening' magazine. Although an attractive concept to have only hand-painted illustrations featured within the magazine, it was short-lived in the mid-1960s due to competition from colour photography, which was a cheaper source of imagery.
