For several centuries, Castulo issues its own currency in bronze, a sign its economic development and its political independence from Carthaginians and Romans.
In Cástulo three values were minted: the largest, "as" is identified by the Sphinx, the means by a bull under the moon, and the smallest by a wild boar.
The currency has always had an economic value, also it served to expose and promote the identity of the city. Even after the Roman conquest the city still maintains its own symbols and writing.
