The Olivetti "Valentine" portable typewriter clearly breaks with the models that precede it and in its simplicity manages to be very innovative. It is so in the production technique used and in the use of new materials: an ABS plastic, instead of the usual aluminum, in a Valentine red color, adopted both for the machine body and for the case that protects it; it is housed in a handy case with handle, which allows it to be easily transported anywhere; presents a "nonconformist" design and is accompanied by a series of captivating, insistent advertising campaigns, capable of building a young and light-hearted image of the new machine. Having entered the permanent collections of the MoMA - Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Valentine was produced with small mechanical and aesthetic differences from 1969 to 2000 in the Italian, Spanish and Mexican factories.
