The Assyrian kings had their activities recorded in detail on numerous stones that were attached to the walls in the palace chambers. The reliefs convey the king’s power and greatness, and were originally painted in bright colours. This one shows two Assyrian soldiers slaying a fallen opponent. The Assyrians are represented as taller and more muscular than their enemies, thus conveying Assyrian superiority and military might.
