At Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, a crane swings the detached lamp room clear of the beacon on the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse. Leaks in the roof allowed moisture to seep in. The lamp room is being removed for repairs and refurbishment. In addition, the original brass roof will be restored and put back in place. The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse is the only operational lighthouse owned by the Air Force. It was first erected in 1868 near the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Photo credit: NASA/Jack Pfaller
