Maglioli, in his third success in Targa, won the 52nd Targa with Vic Elford and preceded the two Alfa Romeo T33 of Nanni-Giunti and Casoni-Bianchi. Vic Elford was one of the fastest drivers of the sixties and seventies, he was surnamed Quick Vic by his colleagues and, considered his sports results, he was probably the most versatile pilot of all time. The 1968 racing season of the pilot will be worth as an example. At the end of January, he wins the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally with a Porsche 911, the following weekend the 24 Hours of Daytona and a month later he will get 2nd in Sebring. In May he wins the Targa Florio in pairs with Umberto Maglioli ,a victory obtained after recovering an 18-minute delay due to a flat tyre and two weeks later, Vic dominates the 1000 km of the Nürburgring. In June, he can not win the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to a clutch failure two hours from the end. Finally his debut in Formula One in July in a flooded French Grand Prix, where he managed to lead a non-competitive Cooper T86B in 4th place.
