A painting titled, At the Front Gate of Shangri-La by the South African artist, Mickey Meyr Korzennik (1930-2013). The work shows the artist's impression of Sangri-La which is the mythical and idyllic place where life approaches perfection in an imaginary utopia. Short Biography: Mickey Korzennik was born in 1930 in Cape Town, South Africa and was of Jewish-Lithuanian and Austro-Hungarian descent. He was a self taught artist, who did some short art studies in Israel, whilst working at a kibbutz. Throughout his career, which spanned five decades, he worked on various projects such as architecture, wall murals, graphics, and sculptures. His work has been featured in private and corporate collections both locally and internationally. Korzennik was a South African Postwar and a contemporary painter, mostly regrded for his sculpture in various mediums and later in life began to paint as his main artform. In 1998, he published his own book titled, "Korzennik: The Artist and His Work - The Journey is the Teacher." He passed away in 1913.
