At the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, construction crews are completing final preparations for the opening of the "Space Shuttle Atlantis" facility. Exhibits will include the shuttle's key role in the launch and servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as construction of the International Space Station. The full-scale replica of the Hubble telescope will be 43-feet-tall and hung through an opening in the second floor.
The new $100 million facility will include interactive exhibits that tell the story of the 30-year Space Shuttle Program and highlight the future of space exploration. The "Space Shuttle Atlantis" exhibit is scheduled to open June 29, 2013.Photo credit: NASA/ Jim Grossmann
