Osun priestesses and initiates (known in Yoruba as Ìwòrò) shown seated in the courtyard of Ile Osun (Osun Temple), located in the Palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo. The Oba (king) of Osogbo - who bears the Ataoja title - is the custodian of the Osun deity. Many festivities and rites in the build-up to the procession to the river on festival day, take place in Ile Osun and in the Oba's Palace.
