Atlantic Salmon by James Francis. Francis, a member of the Penobscot Nation, created this work to commemorate the reestablishment of Atlantic Salmon in Maine's Penobscot River watershed. Francis's painting is the first of three contemporary artworks by Native artists that will be highlighted in the exhibition "The First Stewards: Indigenous Peoples and North American Conservation" at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's National Conservation Training Center.
