Atlas novus coelestis

The famous work of Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1677-1750) includes maps of the starry sky, a map of the Moon, and representations of the planetary systems of Nicolaus Copernicus, Tycho Brahe and the Jesuit G.B. Riccioli. The maps are decorated in the margins with figures of astronomers, cherubs as well as astronomical instruments and observatories.
