During the era of fast technological development, Kristek created the wooden sculpture Atom and People (also known as Our Atom Era). On 26 March 1975, the Landsberger Tagblatt periodical published a photograph of the artwork, and in the article Art – Surviving in Art (Die Kunst – in Kunst zu überleben, p. 19), the following was written about the artist: ‘Lubo Kristek is a master in oversize, metaphysically oriented shaping of wood.’
In his thoughts, Kristek was heading towards the substance and forms of being. On the sculpture, we find abstracted human bodies forming the tree of life, yet this shape also resembles a mushroom cloud. Again, the motif of a throat appears, absorbing a part of reality.
