Dallas Museum of Art

Dallas Museum of Art

The attendant of Vishnu carries a discus, or chakra, symbol of the power of enlightenment. Notice the crisp lines and undulating pose. In its original site, the attendant would have been part of a large scene centering on the Hindu deity Vishnu, the Preserver of the Hindu trinity.
