Augusto Sandino

The piece that belongs to the Museum of Art (MUSA), dated 1986, presents a large-scale drawing of the Nicaraguan fighter, inspired in the movement of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, which fought Anastasio Somoza’s government. The lines mark out the area of the figure and background with precision, presenting the body in the foreground, using the textures of the amate paper itself. The painting’s dimension reflects the moral stature that the author gives the leader, for which he uses a limited palette that makes the colors of the American flag stand out.
