Augustus of Prima Porta is the best known portrait of Augustus Caesar from the ancient world. A bronze copy of an original marble sculpture excavated at the Villa of Livia owned by Augustus’ third wife, Livia Drusilla in Prime Porta in 1863. It is currently displayed in the Vatican museums. The statue is an idealized image of Augustus showing a standard pose of a Roman orator.
