A pale Aurora Borealis in a spiral form on the night sky. A part of a mountain in the lower left corner. Printed by Sabatier after a drawing by L. Bevalet. This print is part of "Atlas Historique et Pittoresque", published in 1842-1852 for "Voyages de la Commission Scientifique du Nord" about the Recherche expedition.

Sabatier was part of an expedition to the Arctic and to Northern Norway where he drew several drawings of the Northern lights and the coastal landscape of Northern Norway and Svalbard.
